We will have to echo some of the other answers here… it really does depend whom you are telling. But – the general theory is that YES – it will help. At the very least, it will help you to get it off your chest.
Finding someone who cares and/or who understands is key – people with experience in depression are almost always thrilled to help. To offer a kind word. To go to greater lengths to help too.
You can also find online communities where you can talk with people. A lot of uf are more comfortable with that.
