Hi – we believe that there is a real difference between the two, but that it can be very difficult to rationalize when in crisis yourself.

Physical dependencies will often cause very physical symptoms. Tremors, nausea, major pain etc. In some extreme and rare cases, an immediate cessation of alcohol can actually cause death. Unfortunately, mental dependency can also mimic those symptoms.

Treating both the physical and mental addictions concurrently is really the only answer.

Speak with your Doctor. They are likely well versed in the subject, and follow their instructions. You will be surprised at how quickly you will begin to feel better and it just gets better again after that.

    Good luck!
