Recent Chester Bennington Interview Revealed His Battle With Depression

    From LADBible

Following news of Chester Bennington’s tragic suicide, one of the last interviews he undertook before his death has surfaced, detailing how the singer battled his inner demons.

In the interview, obtained by the Mirror, the 41-year-old said: “I came to a point in my life where I was like, ‘I can either just give up and fucking die or I can fucking fight for what I want.’

“And I chose to fight for what I wanted. I wanted to have good relationships. I wanted to love the people in my life. I wanted to enjoy my job.”

He added that Linkin Park’s most recent album, One More Light, was ‘therapeutic’, both for him and for the rest of the band, allowing them to express some of the issues they’ve dealt with in a very public manner.

Chester revealed that before work on the album started, he was in the ‘darkest time’ of his life, but didn’t go into what was exacerbating his mental health issues. Discussing the gestation of the album, he said: “We brought in various issues and situations into the writing process.

“When you hear it in the context of the music, there’s a hopefulness and there’s a sense of moving forward and moving on, and that’s really where we’re coming from.”

Working on One More Light reportedly allowed Chester to see what the important things in life were and made him ‘let things happen as they’re happening and just ride it out’. He mentioned how his attempts to control aspects of his life had deeply affected his mental health.

But the father-of-six said he started to turn a corner when he began talking about his problems to his friends as well as engaging in therapy sessions.

The interview reportedly took place four months ago.

Chester’s body was found at his at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. Bandmate Mike Shinoda posted this tweet shortly after news broke of Bennington’s death.
